Living Hope

By Rose H.

1 Peter 1:3 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

What an amazing verse! Peter can’t contain his praise for what God has done. It spills over into the letter to God’s people. I can almost see him now furiously and excitedly writing the words.

Praising God through his pain, Peter tells us something truly amazing. That God has given us new birth into a living hope.

Once we were desolate, alone, and hopeless. Then God came down and made Himself known to us. He gave us new birth. The birth of the Spirit. Now we live a new life. The old things are past, the new has come.

In this new life one of the best things we have is hope. But this is not just any hope. This is a hope based in Jesus and in His resurrection. Christ is our living hope. He is the one in whom this hope begins and ends.

Dear sisters, let us look to our living hope and place our trust in Him. For our hope in Him isn’t futile. We have our living hope, Jesus, to be with us and help us. Let us walk on with our heads held high, placing our hope in Him, knowing that hope doesn’t disappoint.

I love that verse we've memorized and, yes, this hope will *never* disappoint. Amazing.
