Be Bold!

 by Rachelle

Or as I like to call it on my blog, being daring.

That would definitely be the highlight of 2010 for me: God teaching me how to step out of my comfort zone and trust Him with seemingly impossible things.

In January, I thought it would be fun to do away with making a lengthy list of New Year's Resolutions. Instead I began a new tradition. I chose one word that I thought could/should/might be fun to sum up what I wanted the new year to be like.

I chose the word "opportunity." I created a small poster with a few other words like "spiritual growth," "relationships," "writing," and "college." These were areas of my life where I really thought that a little "opportunity" would be nice. I put it on my bedroom wall, hopeful that these would be areas where I would be blessed with opportunities.

This word soon came to summarize 2010 so well, I knew it had to be the Lord's plan.

But there was one thing missing. I realized that the opportunities God provided would not do me (nor anyone else) any good if I didn't take advantage of them, if I didn't seize them, if I didn't follow through and actually act upon them!

So I prayed a dangerous prayer. A life-changing prayer. A prayer I've repeated often in 2010.

"Lord, make me daring."

And the rest, as they say, is history.

I've read a number of wonderful Bible studies that have catapulted me straight into the arms of Jesus.

I've experienced a lot of growth in my prayer life (which has a lot to do with my prayer journal, but that's another post).

I've met so many amazing friends this year (like the girls of Meditations of His Love!).

I was published for the first time this year (that's a dream come true). Now I write for a handful of ministries and my church's newsletter. I love being a writer, a scribbler, a wordcrafter.

Last but not least, I began college and officially survived my first semester last week! The college experience has been exhausting, exciting, and very educational (and not just academically).

So, how about you?

Are you ready to be daring, to be bold, and see what the Lord has in store?

You may be surprised at the opportunities He brings your way this year. Take His hand and see where He leads!

Thank you so much for this post! I found it sooooo encouraging! With New Year coming up I've been thinking about resolutions a lot but I like this "word" idea better :)
Also, "daring" has been a word I have felt God whispering so much lately... so I'll probably pick that one for 2011 :D

Thank you Rachelle (Rose)!
